Provides intensive, individualized life skills help to youth age 16-21 to help you prepare for living on your own as a young adult. To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
This program is designed for young adults ages 16-22 who live with disabilities. The goal is to offer interns their first summer job, supplemented with job-readiness workshops and one-on-one Skills Training and Peer Counseling. The workshops that are offered cover areas such as resume writing, interviewing skills, work place etiquette, time & stress management, self-advocacy & disclosure as well as interpersonal communication.
Services include adult education, parenting resources including day care and head start, consumer services, food and clothing, fuel and energy, housing and shelter, income tax assistance, and scholarships.
Programs serve the following areas: Amesbury, Boxford, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury, and West Newbury.
COMPASS offers a community-based jobs program for homeless parents. COMPASS structures technical training, internships, and employment partnerships that are best suited to local transitional jobs that track toward self-sufficiency careers and a brighter future for families. The program runs in ongoing cycles and offers five different programming “tracks" – designed to specifically meet a parent's employment training and job placement needs.
The DCF Adopted Child Tuition Waiver and Fee Assistance Program is designed to lessen the financial burden on adopting parents in the Commonwealth. This waiver extends eligibility to all children and young adults, age twenty-four or under, adopted through DCF by state employees or eligible Massachusetts residents, regardless of the date of adoption. The tuition and fee waiver encompasses 100% of tuition and fees for state-supported courses, subject to budgetary appropriation, at all of the Massachusetts public institutions of higher education, excluding graduate courses and courses in the MD program at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

JVS provides skills, jobs and careers for diverse populations in MA. The Work Place, our one stop career center provides job search support. Located in the Boston neighborhood of Roxbury, Roxbury Village provides up to 18 months of housing for nine young people at a time, as well as intensive services and supports to build necessary resources and skills. Roxbury Village provides assistance with employment services; educational support; access to health services; positive and appropriate peer and adult relationships; strong community connections; and enhanced life skills (e.g. budgeting, financial management, and parenting).

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers and Harbor Light programs have provided spiritual, social, and emotional assistance for men and women who have lost the ability to cope with their problems and provide for themselves. Centers offers residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment.
Shortstop is a community-based program that provides housing and transitional care to homeless young adults, ages 18- 22, from the Somerville, Cambridge and Greater Boston areas. ShortStop offers a variety of services including educational and vocational support services for young people transitioning to adulthood. Shortstop assists each young adult to make a successful transitional to stable permanent living situations by promoting independent living skills in a supportive environment.
