The Foster Child Grant Program was funded by the Massachusetts Legislature in 2001. It provides grants of up to $6000 annually for foster children to help pay for an education beyond high school at any college or university throughout the continental United States. The grant recipient must have signed an agreement with the Department of Children and Families for care and services beyond age 18.
The DCF Foster Child Tuition Waiver and Fee Assistance Program is designed to provide financial support for children in state custody who were neither adopted nor returned home. While foster care children qualify for financial aid, many face the burden of acquiring student loans to meet their educational costs. The DCF Foster Child Tuition Waiver and Fee Assistance Program is a valuable resource that will help reduce their educational loan debt.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $53,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
In addition to VITA, the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program offers free tax help for all taxpayers, particularly those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. The IRS-certified volunteers who provide tax counseling are often retired individuals associated with non-profit organizations that receive grants from the IRS.

GEAR UP is a federally-funded program designed to give more low-income students the skills, encouragement, and preparation needed to pursue post-secondary education and to strengthen academic programs and student services at participating schools.
OSFA offers a scholarship for students who participated in a component of the GEAR UP Massachusetts Early Intervention initiative and are pursuing higher education.

The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) National Help Center, founded in 1996, is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that provides vital peer-support, community connections and resource information to people with questions regarding sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Utilizing a diverse group of GLBT volunteers, we operate two national hotlines, the GLBT National Hotline and the GLBT National Youth Talkline, as well as private, volunteer one-to-one online chat, that helps both youth and adults with coming-out issues, safer-sex information, school bullying, family concerns, relationship problems and a lot more.

HEATH Resource Center is a web-based clearinghouse that serves as an information exchange of educational resources, support services and opportunities. The HEATH Resource Center gathers, develops and disseminates information in the form of resource papers, fact sheets, website directories, newsletters, and resource materials.
HEATH Resource Center is a collaborative effort among a network of professionals in the areas of disability, counseling, transition and postsecondary education.

Hourly Respite provides temporary support to a child/youth with emotional and/or behavioral disturbances. LUK's Hourly Respite services are responsive to the needs of families; are reliable and flexible; and strengthen families, children and youth. Hourly Respite reduces family stress; establishes, supports, and maintains family stability; increases family and individual safety; and minimizes the need for out-of-home placement.
Income-eligible EEC financial assistance for child care is subsidized child care for low-income non-TAFDC families who are working, in an education or job training program, or disabled. Child care is provided for children under 13 and for older children with special needs
