Join us for a Beginner Writing Group every other Tuesday Jan 19th - May 11th 2021. Upcoming dates include April 13th and April 27th from 5:15 - 6:15 PM. If we need more time we continue from 6:15 - 7:15 PM however this is optional! You can call in and/or join by video. No pressure to put your camera on. You are welcome to attend any and/or all of the sessions.

Current and former foster youth are excited to create a space for those who may be interested in:

  1. Writing your own memoir
  2. Creatively expressing yourself through writing
  3. Creating spoken word together
  4. Writing for stress relief
  5. Other personal projects

New current and/or former foster youth who join will receive a Leuchtturm 1917 Notebook or a Panda Planner.

FORMAT:

As we've been meeting our time together has extended to meet the needs of our participants:
5:15 - 6:15 PM - We may write for 10-15 minutes on a prompt and share if you feel comfortable. Feel free to use this time to work on an assignment you're trying to make time for! No pressure to share! We'll usually learn something new about writing and possibly view a short clip from a spoken word artist we didn't know before! Free flowing and flexible but generally these areas of focus!
6:15 - 7:15 PM - No pressure to stay but this hour is for those who may have additional questions about something they're working on in their own writing. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions of Ben and other participants about writing. Sometimes we are also still sharing and providing feedback on our writing!

There is no need to have joined this group before to join us for the first time! Every group participant will walk away with something they've written and inspiration to keep writing.
